Our Czech partners ordered the creation of a detailed 2D vector map for the city of Prostejov. The project included the mapping of communication lines, sidewalks, bike paths, parking lots, as well as road signs with their location and rotation.

GisPoint and our specialists faced a number of demands on this project. The accuracy requirements and the data volume both set a high bar. The main ones: Vectorisation accuracy: vectorising utilities, sidewalks, bike paths and car parks from high-precision orthophoto plans and panoramic imagery. Processing mixed data types: integrating orthophoto plans and panoramic images into a single vector representation. Road signage: placing road signs with their rotation (horizontal, vertical, panel) and their attribute information. Attribute information: filling in attributes for every vectorised object, the state of the road network included, and keeping it correct and current. Data coordination: managing a large amount of data and holding it consistent so the map displays correctly. Data complexity: organising and correcting the data to avoid duplicate or missing features.
Creation of a detailed 2D vector map for Prostejov. Vectorization of communication lines, sidewalks, bike paths, and parking areas. Accurate placement and documentation of road signs. Integration of orientation and attribute data for road signs. Utilization of high-precision ortho-photo plans and panoramic photo data.
The input was orthophoto plans at 5 cm accuracy and panoramic photographs. From those, our QGIS team vectorised the road infrastructure: utilities, sidewalks, bicycle lanes and car parks. We added the road signs, including their location and orientation.
The project delivered a 2D map of the city of Prostejov carrying the road infrastructure and its attribute information. Every road sign was photographed and its condition recorded.
